Organisational Ethnography of Festivals of Street Performers

2021-2025, National Science Centre, Poland; Project no. 2020/37/N/HS4/02368

We can watch living statues perform during the UFO Street Festival of Curiosities in Szamotuly, and street performances during the month-long Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Despite their diversity, street festivals have three things in common: street performances, urban space and many people and organisations preparing the festivals months in advance.

  • What is the difference between an individual street performer and a festival performer?
  • How does a street performance become a street festival?
  • When are great events created in a beautiful way?
