I show how to create art in a beautiful way and help artists establish themselves in the world of management.
I believe in cultural management that allows culture workers to make a living doing what they love, without abandoning their ideals.

WE
USUALLY
ASSOCIATE
ART
WITH BEAUTY,
BUT
IS THE

CREATION
OF ART ALWAYS
BEAUTIFUL?

When I take part in a cultural event, apart from enjoying the performances, I am interested in the goals, values and relationships of the people who create the event.
Cultural organisations shape the working environment that can give artists and performers a sense of agency, satisfaction and fulfilment.

My name is Marta Połeć. I have a PhD in management and I study the performing arts.
For over 10 years, I have been managing research projects, teaching, facilitating discussions, and writing books and articles.
In the “Research Projects” tab, I discuss street performances, festivals, and circus in an accessible, popular science way through films, infographics, and animations.
What does a street performance sound like?
How does a street festival change city life?
How does the contemporary circus differ from our childhood memories and the stories we heard from our parents and grandparents?
Welcome to a world where science, management and the performing arts coexist in harmony!

I teach at Kozminski
University - the best business school in Central and Eastern Europe, as ranked by the Financial Times.
Since 2016, I have been teaching management to artists and future managers – how to organise cultural events.

I know firsthand what it’s like to work in culture from many perspectives: I have been a performer, reviewer, volunteer, coordinator, manager and researcher.

I have visited dozens of street festivals in Europe – from Poland to the UK – and seen hundreds of street performances.

I have secured funding for my research projects in the amount of over a million zlotys.
Although I have never competed in a beauty contest, I have been the Face of Jagiellonian University!
The project „Behind the Curtain: Popularising Knowledge about the Performing Arts” resulted from cooperation among specialists in science, art, technology and business.
The main outcome of the project is a website in Polish and English, www.performingartsstudy.com, which presents the results of academic research in the performing arts. The project has been implemented within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan – Component: Economic Resilience and Competitiveness; Investment A2.5.1: Programme to support the activities of entities in the cultural sector and creative industries to stimulate their development.
